 Homemade Pizza

Who doesn’t love a good pizza?! It is the weekend and I am in need for a good pizza! I knew I could whip up a pizza in a snap and have all the toppings I want! I love how easy this pizza is to make and all the flavor that goes along with it. My family loves pizza night and you can’t go wrong with this dough. It is simple to make with only 5 ingredients but packed with so much flavor for the crust. We all love it and enjoy making pizza in our home together.

This homemade pizza is one that your family will enjoy in the kitchen bringing so many memories baking it together. Let the machine do the work, play a quick game in-between dough raising and make a memory that your family will cherish. This will become a weekly favorite and one of the meals that will carry on through traditions.

How Do You Make Homemade Pizza?

  • Mix warm water, sugar and yeast together. Let that sit for 5 minutes.
  • Add flour and salt to the water, sugar, and yeast. Mix this until smooth and let it raise for 10 minutes. I used my kitchen-aid mixer with the dough hook and it was so easy and worked great!
  • Prepare the dough for what you will be making and let rest for another 10 minutes before putting into the oven.
  • Spread pizza sauce evenly about an inch from the edge. Top with cheese and desired toppings.
  • Bake at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes.

What Toppings go on a Pizza?

  • Black Olives
  • Cheese
  • Bacon
  • Onions
  • Sausage
  • Mushrooms
  • Tomatoes
  • Bell Peppers
  • Pepperoni
  • Ham
  • Pineapple

Do You Put Toppings or Cheese on after the Sauce?

Putting toppings onto the pizza first creates a mushy goulash covered dough that is unappetizing and unpleasant to eat. Toppings, as long as they go on top of the cheese, should represent a compliment to and with the cheese.

Do You Cook the Pizza Dough before adding the Toppings?

No need to cook the pizza dough prior to adding the toppings. Simply roll out the dough, add pizza sauce and toppings of choice, then bake for 15 to 20 minutes.

How Do You Make Crispy Crust?

Make your pizza crust crispy by rolling the dough out on the thinner side. Be careful not to make it too thin, because you don’t want it to fall apart when you add the toppings.

Pre-bake until it’s slightly browned on the top of the crust, then remove and add toppings, then return to the oven to finish. You want your oven to be pretty hot for this step, at least 425 degrees F, to get a really crispy crust.

For a crispy thin crust pizza, you can also skip the rising step and just roll the pizza out after you’re done kneading it. All purpose flour will also work for a thin crust pizza, instead of bread flour.

What is the Best Flour to use for the Dough?

I use all-purpose flour to make this homemade pizza crust. If you would like to use bread flour or 00 flour that will work too! It crisps up very nicely and tastes delicious with most flours.

Can You Make the Dough Ahead of Time?

Pizza dough is perfect for making ahead and freezing. Make the dough and let it rise, then divide it into the amounts you’d need for one pizza. Roll into a ball, and spray lightly with olive oil cooking spray.

Wrap tightly with plastic wrap, then place in a freezer bag and freeze for 2-3 months. When you’re ready, defrost in the refrigerator for a few hours before using.

Can You Freeze the Dough after Making it?

After the pizza dough has risen, you can freeze it to use later. Divide the dough in half (or the portion sizes you will be using to make your pizzas). Place on parchment paper or a lightly floured dish and place, uncovered, in the freezer for 15 to 20 minutes. Then remove from the freezer, and place in individual freezer bags, removing as much air as you can from the bags. Return to the freezer and store for up to 3 months.

Thaw the pizza dough in the refrigerator overnight or for 5 to 6 hours. Then let the dough sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before stretching it out in the next steps.

How Do You Store Left Over Pizza?

You can store pizza dough in the refrigerator for about a week, coated lightly in oil and sealed with plastic wrap.
