When shopping for store-bought sauce:
I like to make sure the marinara has no added sugar (tomatoes naturally contain sugar, but there shouldn’t be sugar on the ingredients list.
Marinara sauce should only contain just a few simple ingredients such as tomatoes, garlic, and herbs.
makes 4 servings
Ingredients:
- 2 cups low sugar marinara sauce
- 4 large pasture-raised eggs
- 1/3 cup grated Parmesan
- sea salt and fresh ground black pepper, to taste
Optional: red pepper flakes, or fresh chopped herbs such as Italian parsley
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees f. Layer the marinara sauce into one medium-sized baking dish or divide it among 4 small ones.
Gently crack the eggs in, then sprinkle with parmesan, sea salt and black pepper.
Bake in your preheated oven until the egg whites are cooked, about 15-20 minutes depending on your yolk preference.
Serve while hot and enjoy!
